Great idea to turn your family's Titanic voyage into historical fiction.

There were a LOT of third-class passengers from all over Europe on that ship. Also a second-class Japanese passenger who survived and took flak for doing so, and a Haitian, the sole black man. He gave his life to save his family.

I met his descendants at an event in Newark, and they signed my reproduction copy of a newspaper that announced its sinking.

Now they're building a NEW Titanic. I hope it has enough lifeboats.....

There are several sources about those odd passengers...I'll locate them.

The Titanic II is in the news.

Sunday is the anniversary of the original ship hitting the iceberg, at 11:40 p.m.

Monday is the anniversary of Titanic sinking, at 2:20 a.m.

My favorite story about the sinking was that at 2:05 a.m., a bottle of booze slid off the bar, onto the deck, and smashed into pieces, the result of Titanic listing. The bartender yelled, "All liquor is now on the house!"

What a creative idea to write historical fiction based on your family’s experiences! I’ve always been fascinated with the Titanic, so this was a fun read. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks so much! My next is my version of my maternal grandparents meeting and following with how my parents met- romantic, light and will be fun.❤️

What a great idea! We can all only hope for someone to love us so much that they would take an interest in reimagining our lives. ❤️

Jann, I really enjoyed reading this. I have a deep love and interest for all things historic. I like knowing how things came to be, where something or someone came from and the timeline of when. I don't think of history being some dry past, instead I believe it to be a living thing, the steps climbed before reaching what we call now.

Thanks do much Jim. I was never a history buff in my earlier years, but as I age, I find myself exploring it. Probably why I took a DNA test in 2016. I am going to write a piece from my maternal side and perhaps create a mini series- its romantic how my mom and dad met. Thanks again for reading.
